dilema dilema

ok so this is what comes out of thinking about stuff, it gets you introuble. i thought i had a great thing when i found and used this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODwt6OdN-8Y
it was great for reviewing the topic of mitosis, it told all the vocabulary, it explain where it is used, it even has a catchy tune (sorry if you start singing it) but would it actually helpp students learn or would it be watched and filed in their schema as junk? tell me what you think, is watching a video an effective way you cement ideas in a students head?

  1. Sometimes a video is the only way to keep kids of today awake in class. It is the medium which will stick with them more than print or even audio. IMO.
I personally don't like the overuse of video, but I think not using it in today's classroom is unwise considering the audience.

  2. On of the great things about YouTube videos is that they are generally short. (My opinion... my wife won't go to movies with me because I usually go to sleep shortly after the lights go out, and let us be honest, most educational films are quite boring.)
